David John Mangnuson, 70 of Austin, died Friday, October 21, 2016 at Rochester Methodist Hospital. He was born September 10, 1946 in Austin to Ernest and Evalyn (Capp) Mangnuson. He grew up in Austin, graduated from Pacelli High School, and attended Austin Junior College. He enlisted in the United States Air Force, and was honorably discharged after serving stateside, and in Vietnam. An avid bowler, David enjoyed reading, movies, and was a New York Times crossword puzzle aficionado. David lived in Houston Texas for more than 30 years, working in Sales. Upon his return home to Austin, he worked 18 happy years with Morem Tree Service. Survivors include sisters Mary Mangnuson of Greenwood Village, CO, and Katy Mangnuson of Centennial, CO; nieces Dana Mangnuson of Minneapolis, and Meredith and Kathryn Sczekan of Centennial, CO. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Jan Mangnuson. A memorial mass will be celebrated 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Jim Steffes officiating. There will be visitation at the church one hour before the service. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with military rites will be by American Legion Post #91 and V.F.W. Post #1216. Memorials are preferred to the Mower County Veterans Association. Arrangements by Mayer Funeral Home Condolences may be left online at www.mayerfh.com
