Victor Slowinski

Victor “Vic” Slowinski, 88, of Brownsdale, died Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield with his family by his side. He was born in Armstrong, IA on July 28, 1925 to John and Stella (Syzmerick) Slowinski. He attended school in Renova, MN. Victor served his country by enlisting in the US Army during the Korean War. He was wounded in North Korea and was awarded the Purple Heart. After his military service, he returned to the Midwest and settled into the Brownsdale area with his brothers. Victor worked for Weyersaeuser’s for over 38 years. He was proud of his acreage in rural Brownsdale and also helped his brother Charles with custom farming. Victor was a simple man who was quiet and laid back. He always had a lab companion by his side while working around the farm. He enjoyed spending time with his great-nephews and nieces. Attending church and his Catholic faith, was an important part of his life. Victor is survived by his three brothers; Anthony (Patricia) Slowinski of Austin, Paul (Barbara) Slowinski of Owatonna and Charles Slowinski of Hayfield, along with many nieces and nephews. Victor is preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Rose Comer , Wallace, Frank, Joseph and Henry Slowinski. A Funeral Mass will at 11 am on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hayfield with Father John Traufler officiating. Visitation will be at the church an hour prior to the mass. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield with military graveside rites performed by the Hayfield American Legion Post #330.
