Maxine Marie (Arens) Christensen, 92, of Austin, Minnesota died Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Austin Mayo Health Systems Hospital. She was born January 4, 1921 in Austin to Edward and Gertrude (Skjeveland) Arens. Maxine was baptized and confirmed at St. Augustine Church in Austin and graduated from Austin High School in 1938. During WWII she worked at the Hormel offices and married Paul M. Christensen on December 9, 1942 at Queen of Angels Church. Maxine was a Gold Star Mother, lifetime member of the American Legion and Women's Auxiliary, a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, beloved mother, grandmother great-grandmother and friend. We miss and love her always. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, son 1st Lieutenant Jan Paul Christensen (Vietnam), husband Paul, brothers: Daniel and Eugene Arens and sister Virginia (Arens) Meyers. She is survived by her children: Jay and Carmilla (Cain) Christensen, Rick (Karla Cook) Christensen, Ron and Leonor Christensen, Jeff (Ashley Haye) Christensen, Cathy and Mike Jensen,sister Marilyn (Arens) Snyder, brother Fayette Arens, daughter-in-law Sally (Christensen) and Duane Anderson, 16 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
