Irene Bates

Irene Frances Bates, age 93, of Austin, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at St. Mark's Lutheran Home. Irene was born May 5, 1920. She was a member and volunteer at St. Edward's Catholic Church. Survivors include four children, Patricia (James) Hansen, Bruce (Dianne) Bates, Gary (Renae) Bates, David Bates; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; sister, Helen; nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; and two granddaughters. Special thanks to her niece, Marjorie Reutzel for all her kindness toward Irene. Thanks also to St. Mark's Lutheran Home and the hospice ladies. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at St. Edward's Catholic Church with Father Jim Steffes officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery. Arrangements by Mayer Funeral Home. Condolences may be left online at www.mayerfh.com.
