Helen Sershen

Helen age 87, of Orono, MN, formerly of Austin, passed away on Saturday May 27, 2017 at Waconia Hospital surrounded by the love of her family. Helen was born October 15, 1929 in Riceville, Iowa to Joseph and Celestine (Winkels) Schaefer. She was married to Jackie (Jack) Sershen on October 31, 1949. They had three sons. Helen lived in Austin most of her life and graduated from Pacelli. She worked at Hormel for many years. She moved to the Trails of Orono the last 20 months to be closer to her family. She was preceded in death by parents, husband Jackie (Jack) Sershen, 4 Brothers, Raymond, Wilfred, Bernard, Leo. 3 sisters, Dorothy Schlichter, Margaret Whalen, Rosemary Danley. Survivors include Son, Michael (Connie) Sershen, Shaanan Sullivan, Jesse, Jared, Todd Sershen, Rod (Nicole) Sershen, Faith, Maddy, Aubrey, Mindy (Kevin) Schroeder, Vatia, Danielle Sershen, Marianna, Dannika; Son, Dennis (Linda) Sershen, Tiffany (John) Buecker, Aries, Therin, Shawn (Bridget) Sershen, Heath (Michelle) Sershen, Starker, Alina; Son, Randy (Cindy) Sershen, James Sershen; her brother, Sy Schaefer; and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Friday June 9, 2017 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Raul Silva officiating. There will be a 4:30 p.m. CCW rosary on Thursday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 5-7p.m. and there will also be visitation one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
