Dorothy Heimer

Dorothy Jane Heimer, of Sargeant, Minnesota went to join her heavenly family on February 19, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin. She was 100 years and 13 days young. Dorothy was born February 6, 1918 in Swann, Iowa to Lloyd and Leila (Walker) Wall. She was the youngest of four girls. In her early years, the family lived in Iowa, North Dakota, and settled in Austin, Minnesota. She attended school in Austin and later moved to St. Paul to attend beauty college. After graduation she returned to Austin and on April 12, 1939 was united in marriage to Joseph Heimer at St. Augustine Catholic Church. To this union, eleven children were born. Joe died in 1991 and Dorothy then moved to Sargeant where she lived until her passing. Dorothy enjoyed puzzles of all kinds, playing cards, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She had a very quick wit and extreme sense of humor. Dorothy enjoyed life and will be greatly missed by all. Survivors include nine daughters, Nancy (Ronald) Monahan, Rochester, MN, Carol Cimmiyotti, Sargeant, MN, Sandy Medina, Mazeppa, MN, Sue Monkemeier, Long Beach, CA, Janet Wolfenbarger, Chino Valley, AZ, Cheryl Stover, Long Beach, CA, Kathy (Oscar) Mendiola, San Pedro, CA, Kim Myers, Sargeant, MN, Terri (Stacey) Dobson, Indio, CA; 24 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe; two sons, Donald and Gary; her parents; her sisters; two great granddaughters, Carly Monahan and Haley LaVelle; three sons-in-law, Stan, Bill, and Roger. A Memorial Service will be held 11 am on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Mayer Funeral Home with Father Tom Niehaus officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at Mayer Funeral Home on Saturday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Condolences may be left online at www.mayerfh.com
