Dale Mullenbach

Dale Thomas Mullenbach, 57, of Austin, died at his home on Friday, October 11, 2013. He was born in Austin on October 21, 1955 to Otto and Marcella (Tindal) Mullenbach. He spent his childhood in Austin and graduated from Pacelli High School in 1974. He married Debra Swank on August 16, 1975 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Dale served his country by enlisting in the US Air Force in 1975 and was stationed at Minot Air Force Base in Minot, ND until 1979. After his service in the Air Force, Dale went to vocational school for Traffic Management. He worked for Jennie-O-Foods in Willmar for several years then moved his family back to Austin. Dale took classes at Winona State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. He was most recently employed at Independent Management Services fulfilling his passion of helping others struggling with mental illness. Dale enjoyed golfing, grilling, loved caring for his lawn, but overall, loved spending time with his grandchildren. Dale is survived by his wife Debbie of Austin; son, Dylan (Angie) Mullenbach and their children, Nolan and Emry of Buffalo; daughters, Katie (Thomas) Parks and their children, Henry, Charlie, Beatrice and Louise of Rosemount, MN, Jennie (Darren), Asleson and their children, Brynn and Cara of Farmington, MN; son Derek (fiancé Carmen May) Mullenbach and their child, Aubrey of Austin; mother, Marcie Mullenbach of Austin; brother Greg (Julie) Mullenbach of Belle Plain; sisters, Kim (Doug) Lutgens of Baxter, Kay (Kent) Draayer of Austin; mother-in-law, Theresa Swank of Austin, along with many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Dale is preceded in death by his father Otto Mullenbach and Father-in law, Paul Swank. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 am on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Fr. John Traufler officiating. Friends may call from 4-7 pm on Monday, October 14, 2013 at Mayer Funeral Home and at 9:30 am at the church on Tuesday until the time of the service. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with military graveside rites performed by the Austin American Legion Post #91. Memorials are preferred to American Cancer Society and NAMI.
